Formed in Houston in 2009, Grandfather Child has released its full-length debut on New West Records. There is plenty of pedal steel guitar here, but this definitely isn't a bluegrass or a country album. Grandfather Child makes straight-up rock. Sure, there's plenty of soul ("Can't Seem To Forget"). There's also blues ("New Orleans" "Across Our Minds"), and gospel ("Gonna Have Ourselves a Vision"). Mostly, though, this release has a 70's southern rock vibe that brings to mind the Allman Brothers or Black Crows. Rebecca RuthBROKEN SOCIAL SCENE
