BOB MOULD

Silver Age

2012-11-07

As I listened to Bob Mould's newest release, Silver Age, the first thing I noticed was how much it sounded like late 90's rock. Then, I read an interview with Bob Mould where he stated that his major influence for this album was Foo Fighters. Well, that's obvious. Silver Age isn't breaking any new ground. It rocks a mess of guitars and drums with indistinct vocals, yet it remains melodic and catchy. I've never been a Bob Mould fan. While I respected Husker Du, I thought Sugar pretty much sucked, so I had low expectations for this. Silver Age was a pleasant surprise, as it's somewhat tolerable, aggressive power pop.
