The most recent offering in the Buena Vista Social Club presents… series from Nonesuch Records features the magnificent trumpet voice of Manuel Mirabal, who is also affectionately known as “El Guajiro” or “Country Boy” to his friends.

Like most of the members of Buena Vista Social Club, Mirabal had been a cornerstone of Cuban music for more that 40 years before first gaining international recognition for the 1998 documentary.

For his new release, Manuel Mirabal has chosen to pay tribute to the music of the late “Blind Marvel” of Cuban music, Arsenio Rodriguez. Rodriguez is credited with adding conga drums and trumpet to Cuban music to create the familiar modern salsa format.
