Jeff Coffin Mu'Tet

Bloom

2005-01-19

Jeff Coffin’s day job is as the sax player for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. On the side, he’s becoming a powerful creative force in his own right.

His 4th project with the Jeff Coffin Mu’Tet is a romp through his many global influences and the influences brought by his collaborative partners. Also providing ideas on the disc are Bela and the Flecktones, DJ Logic, Kirk Whalum, Chris Thile, Roland Barber, a Nashville children’s choir and many more.

We’re not likely to find much better this year.

Note: Mu'tet is sort of a play on "mutate" and "sextet".
