There’s a tendency in the realm of World music for albums from monolithic, one-name acts to just sort of materialize, seemingly without input from any individual. Did the music just spit randomly from a computer? What are they hiding?!Well, Hamsa Lila (meaning, approximately, Ritual of Divine Breath) would like you to know that they consist of human performers, 8 of them, in fact, from the Bay Area. They’ve rightfully earned numerous local awards and now burst onto the national scene with this disc.
The music has an undeniable Middle-Eastern/North African groove sure to fit any part of day. “Full Moon Flow” stands apart as the conscious addition to the set-list.
