If Blue Note hit the music world with a right hook in the form of Norah Jones, Amos Lee is the left jab making up the 1-2 combo. He's even backed by some of her band (I swear he stole her snare drum). His debut is a low-key folk/soul affair that calls to mind the work of Martin Sexton, perhaps. It may be early in his career to start taking swipes at the music industry like he does on "Soul Sucker" but maybe Blue Note will treat him right and we'll have years of his pleasant tunes to which we may look forward.
This is an album for sunsets. Maybe a boxing metaphor was out of place. How would you follow a cross-stich? (In stores March 1st)
