Horseman

Dawn of the Dread

2015-05-20

Zombie reggae?! YES PLEASE! Winston Williams, aka Horseman, is no new face in the reggae scene: he's a highly regarded reggae session drummer who has worked with Max Romeo, Gregory Issacs, Mad Professor, Eek-a-Mouse, and The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra with John Holt, just to name a few. This record is the result of his most recent collaborations with producer Mike 'Prince Fatty' Pelanconi. In this album, Horseman toasts Shabba Ranks-style through some wicked dancehall-reggae rhythms with some zombie growls on the title track, but don't think the whole album is just about zombies. In fact, it is quite a joyful record, sprinkled with b-movie/video game audio samples and lots of 80's digital effects. Recorded in Thailand and mixed at King Fatty's Ironworks Studio in Brighton, UK, this album features Tippa Irie, Winston Reedy and Earl 16 in 'The Yout', 'Ghetto', and 'Sweet Reggae Music', respectively. Turn up the Subwoofer to 11 for this one.
