TWEED FUNK

COME TOGETHER

2016-11-20

Hailing from Milwaukee, this six piece outfit walks on the horn-driven, soul blues side of the street. With Joseph “Smokey” Holman leading the charge on lead vocals, the 10 original cuts featured on this release feature bottom heavy funk, "Soul Rockin" and "Come Together", slick ballads about the redemptive power of music, "Sweet Music", 70’s style soul jazz instrumentals, "Who Is This", and dance floor ready R & B, "Love Ain’t Easy". Rather than just providing accents the horn section is an integral part of the mix with frequent solos that add a saucy counter-point to Holman’s vocals which often travel into a sweet falsetto. Special guest Doug Woolverton of Roomful of Blues plays a major role on almost every cut with his powerful trumpet work either featured in a solo or adding beef to the saxophone work of Andrew Spadafora that is also present throughout. Chrissy Dzioba and Sara Moilanen of the Whiskeybelles also work their way into the mix with background vocals on half the cuts. Now 4 discs into their recording career, Tweed Funk have hit a solid groove that will please fans of old school Soul, R &B and Funk. SMITTY
