A “shivaree” is defined as a noisy mock serenade for newlyweds. With worldwide sales of nearly half-a-million records, the debut established Shivaree as an international cult favorite. However, their second release met label difficulties and was never given a U.S. release.
The band gained new life with the birth of the Air America Radio Network. Vocalist Ambrosia Parsley (yes, still her real name) offers one the fledgling network’s most popular weekly parody segments, Ambrosia Sings the News. Further, Quentin Tarantino wrapped up his Kill Bill saga with a track from Shivaree’s debut.
So now it’s with great pleasure that we welcome the Zoë Records release of Who’s Got Trouble? The return of Shivaree re-introduces Ambrosia Parsley as one of the best of the new generation of torch singers.
