Zoe Speaks

Birds Fly South

2004-02-18

Zoe Speaks is a traditional/contemporary folk duo (Carla Gover & Mitch Barrett) from Central Kentucky who deliver on the promise of music from the mountains. Natural harmonies, excellent song selection and the crisp production and accompaniment by Bruce Molsky (Fiddlers 4) are the highlights.

"Viola" is a fun song about a truck-stop waitress. "Power Windows" is an adult radio hit (and a one-hit wonder, at that) by Billy Facon from 1991. 4 traditional songs. Carla's grandmother supplied the tear-jearker "Just a Rose" and "Family Reunion".

A solid debut.
