DIRTY MARTINI

Tea and Revenge

2006-10-31

Stevie Nicks meets Elliott Smith on piano and guitar. This album was produced by Dave Allen bassist for the seminal Brittish punk band Gang Of Four. This sophmore release from Dirty Martini offers a darker and deeper edge to the beautiful harmonies and songwriting. This album is energetic and reminds one of some of Kristin Hersch's more grungy moments, laced with golden vocals. I must admit I was afraid that I would hate this album, but alas these girls from Portland have left the folk days of their previous debut in search of sparse and dark acoustic melacoly rock and roll. Fans of Aimee Mann, Cat Power, and Kristin Hersch should be able to find some new treasures. – Michael Cunningham
