THE NIKHIL KORULA BAND

Music of the New Day

2012-02-25

Nikhil Korula got his start as a backing vocalist for such artists as Barry Manilow, Mike and the Mechanics, and Luther Vandross. He started his own band roughly nine years ago. Music of the New Day is The Nikhil Korula Band’s third album. This is a mild rock album with hints of reggae (“Where Are You Now”) and blues (“All Up To You” & the Bo Diddley cover, “Before You Accuse Me”). There are also hints of jam band leanings such as the sort of Dave Matthews-sounding “A Song For LA”. Whichever direction this band leans, they never take it all the way. This lands Music of the New Day smack dab in the middle, afraid to travel down any road that might be the least bit interesting or challenging. Rebecca Ruth
