West End Motel is out with its second release, Only Time Can Tell. I credit producer, writer, guitarist, Brent Hinds (Mastodon) with making this interesting. It is often dark ("Bite", "Only Time Can Tell"), but it might not be what you'd expect from him. Check out the 50's doo-wop meets Bruce Springsteen of "Witch is Dead" or the casio beats of the Island-inspired "El Myr". What I like most about this is the unpolished vocals by Tom Cheshire (Rent Boys) and Brent Hinds. In this day of glossed-over and auto-tuned voices, these come off as coarse and unrefined. It's downright refreshing. Rebecca RuthWILLIE NILE
