DABY TOURE

Stereo Spirit

2007-09-10

Toure is from Mauritania in Africa originally but was raised by Parisian musicians. "Stereo Spirit" is a gentle set in which he plays all of the instruments and his voice, at times, is a bit reminiscent of early Cat Stevens. Only one song is uptempo ("Bibou") and a few are are midtempo ("Setal," "Banta" and "Yakaare"). The rest are softly reflective. His main theme is peaceful relationships, both with humankind and the environment. - MJVD
