The Tiger Walks Through My Dreams

2014-11-24

This disc proves you never judge a book by it's cover. When I first picked this disc, I expected to hear a Smokey Tom Waits sound, instead I found was a reincarnation of Frank Sinatra along with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra. Joe mixes 1940's jazz crooner sounds with 1950's Martin Denny Exotica-Lounge music in a large band setting. Joe does not try to reinvent this sound, but embraces the authenticity of the music from that era. That being said, Joe does cover Morrissey's "Dial-a-Cliché"& yes the Tom Wait's track "All The World Is Green". I guess any artist that can take Morrissey & Waits and turn them into a 1940's jazz crooner exotica is a true original. Reviewed By: Gregg Saur
