Alana Davis

Surrender Dorothy

2005-02-06

California-based urban pop songwriter Alana Davis is the daughter of jazz pianist Walter Davis Jr, who was a sideman for Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, and jazz singer Anamari Davis.

Alana first reached your ears with a hit cover of Ani DiFranco’s “32 Flavors” from her 1997 debut release. Her latest disc Surrender Dorothy is her first offering since going the indie route and forming her own Tigress Records label.

It brings together Alana’s folk, pop and soul influences and even includes her take on her hero Bob Marley’s “Nice Time”.
