Rob Dickinson is the former lead singer and songwriter for “The Catherine Wheel,” one of the most important bands of the ‘britpop’ explosion of the 1990s, which included contemporaries, Blur, The Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Radiohead and many more. Dickinson’s solo album is a true singer-songwriter departure from the often harder rocking Catherine Wheel material. This new solo album is filled with delicate beauty and graceful poetry. Rolling Stone’s review of Dickinson’s “Fresh Wine for the Horses” references “the orchestral "My Name Is Love" and the Leonard Cohen-lite "The Night,” complimenting his effortless melodies. The album also includes a cover of Warren Zevon’s “Mutineer,” from a lonely dark room with a piano in it. Mr. Dickinson’s soaring falsetto remains undeniably potent. -Erin Wilson (GRTV Night Production Manager)FISTFUL OF MERCY
