Hollie Cook

Twice

2014-06-16

Twice is the sophomore release from British singer Hollie Cook who just happens to be the daughter of the Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook. Other than the love of music there are no similarities of sounds between father and daughter. Twice can be described as reggae trance music that incorporates electronic and Brazilian sounds into the mix. Hollie's vocals have a very laid back intimate and sensual sound, that gives this CD a very warm spring like sound. After a couple listens I wondered if Dido were to do a Reggae disc would it sound like this ? Hollie calls her sound Tropical Pop and I could not write a better description of the sounds found on this disc. The only issue I had is the laid back tropical feel does not provide a great deal of variety between tracks, but it does provide the perfect soundtrack for enjoying a drink in the sunshine with the one you love.
