THE MINOR PROFITS

Distant Radio

2011-10-19

The Minor Profits is an eclectic regional band from Elkhart, Indiana. If you like your rock tunes heavy on the piano, you'll love this band. They are, of course, more that that. A little of Five for Fighting, Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright; a touch of The Gourds, Little Feat and REO Speedwagon; some Springsteen, Delbert McClinton, and even Billy Vera. "Distant Radio" is the band's sophomore effort. The disc contains great piano rock from "Sunset" and "Border Town" to the funky "I Could Be So Good For You" and a gospel tinged "My, my, my." Minor Profits show their bluesy chops on "Where Would I Be?" and "We're Easy." Check out "Big Ol' Hole in Arizona" a good stomp with more than a whiff of cajun spices. Reviewed by: Todd Townsend.
