My first date with Wayne Hancock. Viper of Melody is literally a blend of Hank Sr., Asleep at the Wheel and The Stray Cats. (w/a little bit of Buck Owen's Bakersfield sound). Wayne puts the "T" in twang. If you like your country music "traditional" with a distinct rockabilly beat you should enjoy Wayne Hancock. If you don't, this probably isn't the sound for you!. Wayne has an intense retro- honkytonk/barroom vibe and it is no surprise he has a loyal following- especially for those liking their music unique and authentic. Here is a quote from Wayne: “I’m like a stab wound in the fabric of country music in Nashville. See that bloodstain slowly spreading? That’s me.” http://www.waynehancock.com/ Standout (and artist recommended) tracks include: #1 Jump the Blues. #4 Throwin Aawy My Money, #5 Your Love and His Blood, #6 Working at Working. There really is no need to describe the sound more than traditional honky tonking, rockabillying, country music swing. And don't forget the TWANGChip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez
