Thirsty Perch Blues Band's "Live for Today" is their second full-length studio album, and their self-proclaimed "best work to date." The record features high-energy blues right through until the end. Chris Collins's husky voice is accompanied traditional blues instruments—guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, etc. Some tunes have driving rock guitar solos, and others lean back with a grimier, sweltering sound. All of them carry you through the album at a fast-paced momentum until you land at the somber ballad "One More Day." It closes the rollicking album on a mournful note, which perhaps most effectively delivers the message in the album's title. Thirsty Perch Blues Band present themselves here as skilled blues musicians who undoubtedly put on an infectiously energetic live performance.
