A rambunctious live set with McKeown's latest band at Joe's Pub in NYC. Lafayette is less a sequel to her terrific reprise of 30s and 40s tunes of earlier this year, Sing You Sinners, than a chance for her to redo some of her song book with the cool, jazzy combo that made Sinners such a smash. Her band gives these tunes another life, with "To the Stars," "You Were Right," "We Are More" and "Slung-lo" shining brightly. And though it's not a sequel, by showing the seamlessness of her work with those who have traveled this artistic route before, she's managed to write herself into the same literate and musically sharp company as the greats she covered in the Sinners set. - MJVDYael Naim and David Donatien
