CATIE CURTIS

Hello, Stranger

2009-08-27

Over her 15-year music career, Catie Curtis has often played her catalog in a variety of ways, surprising fans with stripped-down versions of her songs. This disc is a collection of tunes she recorded earlier, as well as a number of covers, in a string-band setting featuring banjo player extraordinaire Alison Brown (and heavy on mandolin and fiddle, too). The opener, "100 Miles," and "Deliver Me" are originals that ring true in this setting. Interesting as well are the Cat Stevens song "Tuesday's Dead" and the John Martyn bluesy cut "I Don't Want to Know." Mary Gauthier joins Curtis on the country-fave title track.
