Jimmy LaFave

Blue Nightfall

2005-02-28

Jimmy LaFave has perhaps the most valuable asset that any singer/songwriter can have - an unmistakable voice. That mournful warble and a rootsy, high-energy approach has helped him to navigate the waters for the past 15 years.

His 6th release, and first for Red House Records, finds him dialing it back a notch or two to get to the heart of the matter. The album contains many largely folk-based love and revival songs with gentle fiddle and piano accompaniment. Radoslav Lorkovic adds greazy organ to the few upbeat blues and rockabilly shuffles that are peppered throughout the record.

This is a record for re-discovery. If you've not yet familiarized yourself with Jimmy LaFave, now is the time to get on-board. Let's just say it...it's his best yet.
