Hello meanders charmingly through folk, blues and country in the debut release from the Grand Rapids-based trio. The synchronization between the rhythm guitar, bass and kit is a key point behind the Thieves’ sound, giving a tight, mellow feel to the cheerful progressions. Versatile lead accompaniment on this EP is provided by Sam Starkie, lead guitarist of local pop-rock group American Wifi. Among the five tracks are humble love songs, catchy licks, pleasant harmonies, and plenty of boogie to go around. The Official Thieves recently celebrated their release and are currently playing shows in the greater Grand Rapids area.
