Darrell Scott

Live in NC

2005-01-11

As the story goes, Darrell Scott came to Nashville in 1991 with a batch of songs and a major label contract. But when the label decided not to release his debut album, Scott was forced to start writing for others. More than 40 artists took up his songs, including The Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Patty Loveless, Travis Tritt and Sara Evans (for whom he provided a #1 song).

In 2002, the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year re-recorded the songs from his unreleased album and issued them on Theatre of the Unheard. This year, he takes his progression one step further by founding his own label, Full Light Records and reclaiming many of the songs that became hits for others on his new Live recording.

He’s joined by Tim O’Brien’s bandmates bassist Danny Thompson and drummer Kenny Malone for two jammin’ nights in North Carolina. The set is everything a live recording should be - no intrusive crowd noise and lots of room for these old pros to stretch out and make the songs their own. A great start to 2005.
