JACK JOHNSON

Sleep Through the Static

Alright, we all know what Jack Johnson sounds like. This album is more of the same...mellow guy with guitar and earnest vocals, joined by bass, drums and keys on some songs. This disc is pretty mellow, so I'm inclined to pick the more upbeat songs as favorites. Track #2 (the title track) and #3, "Hope", are both decent upbeat songs. Track #6, "If I Had Eyes", rocks a little bit, too. I'll also mention track #10, "They Do, They Don't", because it features nice keyboard work by Zach Gill. Reviewed by Rebecca Ruth
